Zakk Wylde and his amp endorsements..

Now zakk is widely known to use the JCM800 2203, which is his main stage amp he uses one's from the 80's and had the 2203ZW limited edition signature amp with his choice of tubes etc...

but yet he endorses Roccaforte and uses Cornford amps, this to me seems to totally scream that yea he's willing to take all this money from marshall.. force the Marshall brand down peoples necks but probably uses something completely different in the studio.. i mean how many marshalls sound like his tone?

this kinda frustrates me a lot, i respect players like Steven Stevens who have the balls to admit they use none branded stuff and arent money grabbing c--k gobblers.

no offence zakk but your an endorsement whore!

It's the same with guitars mate.  Anyone ever seen Angus Young play his signature SG, Malcom Young play his signature Gretsch or Slash play his signature Les Paul?

Zakk has used a customised JCM800 in the past and I guess the signature model is his reward for the money Marshall has made from that tie up.  Same with the guitars - how many SGs have Gibson sold off the back of Angus before the signature model?

A lot of guitar heroes realise that they are no longer having million selling albums and the income stream isn.t there.
Doesn't stop ex wives and lawyers from still demanding alimony and stuff so anywhere that income can be found is welcome.

Hence the spew of players with endorsements and branded product
Zakk is about the worst , although Dimebag, George Lynch and EVH are good contenders too

I know what you are saying but if someone is offering a huge wad of cash to say that you use a particular product, 9 times out of 10 most people will take it.

or Slash play his signature Les Paul?

dunno about the others, but i have seen slash play his sig guitar, last year with velvet revolver he used it on at least a couple of songs.  but he mostly played his old eighties standard and a newish one with a wild flame top, and a couple of bc richs.  and a guild doubleneck, which he also endorsed.  and there was a slash signature marshall up there.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

Angus has used Gibson SGs for his whole AC/DC, same with Malcolm and Gretsch - it's hardly like either are turning their backs on the respective companies.  They've had MANY years of free advertising on the back of the Young brothers.

As for Zakk, he seemingly uses old JCM800 2203s but he'll take the cash and run these days.  All those ZW cabs on stage are not used (most likely empty), he has four old Marshall 4x12s infront of the drum riser that he actually 'uses'.

At least Zakk actually uses his Gibsons though.

He seems to anyway, but then so does slash, just cause they say gibson on the headstock....

^I'd say the target graphics and huge snake inlays were a little more of a give away than the headstock logos... From what I've seen zakk almost always uses his gibsons and I don't think I've ever seen slash playing his, although I know he does live occasionally.

To be fair, the current Slash signature model doesn't have the huge snake graphic, that's long gone:

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

Zakk always uses guitars which would appear to be his gibsons, i just amn't convinced they're built by gibson in the first place, virtually all of Slash's own Gibsons, not his signature models, but the guitars he actually plays, are ghostbuilt outwith Gibson, so are MANY of the guitars played by their other endorsees.

The scorpions use guitars made by Boris Dommenget mainly except when being filmed when the switch back to Gibson
