I just noticed the tremelo has not got been routed, does that mean it won't go up and will only go down for dive bombing? or am i just being retarded?

I reckon you've got a nice little bargain there!

I'm not at all sure, but I think the Schecter trem was designed to sit flat on the body.  It has a knife-edge at the front of the bridge which doesn't look like it would allow for a huge range of movement.  I found a picture of one:

have yu ever had a trem guitar? if you had the option of pulling up on the trem i doubt yu'd hardly EVER use it - i only use it for stretching strings :P oh - and making motorcycle noises

I'm not fond of trems because I don't like the way the guitar loses sustain when you drop the pitch, but when I've owned them in the past I used to like pulling up on the bar because it increases sustain.  I agree it's not all that useful though...

It's nice to have the unit floating a bit so you can shake the bar for a nice gentle vibrato without it clonking on the body.

Nice guitar.

I know that Wayne did repair work for Dave Schechter WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day, like 1971.

I am unaware of Wayne doing any design work for Schechter in the 80s or 90s, which is clearly when this guitar was designed, as it's a post-Jackson guitar design.

Can you give more details about this "Wayne Charvel" designed Schechter?

No, i know nothing about it, i want to know what wood it is!

Also if i route out a hole then the trem would go up right?

I want it to go up because i need to do gargles and those huge harmonic thingys.

I reckon it may be ash, although it's not very highly figured (as I said before, it looks to me like the finish has been stripped).

I've been trying to find out about these guitars, and there seems to be very little info anywhere!  I think the Wayne Charvel theory is just a mistake.  They seem to sell pretty cheap, so I think they must have been some kind of budget range.  Not entry-level stuff though, the hardware's good quality.  The original headstock logo would have said "Strategy", not Schecter.

Whatever, for £125 it has to be a bargain.  :D

only when you do a complete dive bomb.

Do you think this guitar had a schecter plate on the back once?

Schecter's website says they can try identify pre '89 guitars if you show them pics of headstock & the plate's serial number.

Dunno.  I read that they may have been made by Godin in Canada (edit: that's from the Harmony Central link Jonathan has posted above).

I think it is a Maple body and neck, as that what he says on description and both neck and body woods look the same.

As long as it sounds good and isn't poorly made i don't mind.
