fun with multitracking! METAL warpig!
« on: December 13, 2006, 07:52:49 PM »
inspiration for all of this was Exodus - I am Abomination ..
the main riff is a bit of a ripoff.. sue me hehe.
then i came up with the melody fill for the main riff (which you can hear in the background.. two of them, one is ascending, the other descending) pretty simple riff actualy, for which i had to adapt the main riff to, because it didnt fit well over the exodus riff ... then i couldn't fit it inbetween the playing well, and decided to add it in the background.

the main riff track is double tracked, one of the channels is the warpig in series, the other in parallel.. forgot which one. the melody .. underdub?? LOL is the pig in series.

this is completely as it sounds. no post EQ. the only thing is that the volume levels are diferent. from -2 to -3dB on main tracks and -8.5dB on harmonies

next one..
this is a melody lick, i had in mind for a "verse" riff .. and then i got kinda sidetracked with it, trying out different complimentary melodies.. center is the main one, left is a 5th (i think) and the right one is an octave. pretty basic
this is the pup in series i think, all 3 .. not too sure though =P

the last riff .. man, i LOVE it.. it's got such an kickassness to it, it's unreal.. apart of the chords, it's all downstrokes and i was playing it for half an hour to get myself up to speed and then again to get me in synch so i could do a 2nd track lol.
left track pig in series, right in parallel.

now the technicalities ..
amp EQ - drive 5.1; master volume (a lowly - it's late in the evening) 1.4; B/M/T - 6/6.5/5; verb 1
DS1 EQ (it's been moded a bit.. not tried out your mods yet erik) Level full; tone 1 o'clock; drive 9 o'clock
the mic is about 2.5" off center, 3" from the speaker cone

it's a bit of a long thread, but if you cant read this much, i feel sorry for you. i like long threads, especially ones about recording and **** like that, so maybe someone feels the same way.

yep, V30's

listening back to it.. i got a bit sloppy on the last riff, right channel. but i was trembling at that point and soaked in sweat, maybe it doesnt sound like it, but that riff is physicaly demanding lol. i was whacking them strings like acheap ho! i just hoped none of them would break lol

There are some good Warpig clips on this site, but I think that this is the first that could tempt me into getting some, you've got some very organic metal tones!

TONAL TASTE. ahahahah soundslike a gear Brand. ahahahahaha
As crunchy as a Ruffles Potatto chips.
As Bright and warm as a Solder iron in itīs full Boiling Point.
And,as Tight And Dark(should i say Dense?) as a sound of a big lead Ball, falling into the sea

it's been a couple of years for me, to get to this tone  8)  been waiting forever for a good amp and now i got it =)

i'll be sure to record more, as this riffage meshes together. i'll try the arrangements next and add a couple more riffs, then do the drummage, and probably do a solo for it too... well, most definately, it's been in my head for the entire day hehe

I think this clip is a very faithful reproduction of the Warpig's tone.
Excellent job!
