I downloaded riff raff and walk on hot coals just because there were pickups named after them and I ended up buying Highway to hell, powerage, high voltage, Irish tour, and Jinx, so thats my top 5 old albums.
new ones... hmmm

the Raconteurs - broken boy soldiers
Muse - Black Holes and revelations
and a special award to greenwing for being the funniest TV show of 2006

I can't think of any non metal releases that I've enjoyed this year sadly, poor year for music all round I reckon.

As always, been listening to tons of Steve Earle - anyone who hasn't heard him needs to rectify that right now. And also a lot of Randy Newman.

This is really tough, I probably only bought about 15 new releases this year.  In no particular order:

Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Tool - 10,000 Days
Winger - IV
Witch - Witch
Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death


As for oldies, I've been listening to all my usual stuff like Clutch, Tesla, Badlands, Rush, Trouble, Sabbath, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Robin Trower, Scorpions, Robben Ford, Thea Gilmore etc but I also rediscovered a few old vinyl favourites on CD:

Y&T - Mean Streak
Coney Hatch - Outa Hand
Sword - Metalized

And I always come back to these two:

Unida - Coping With The Urban Coyote
Circle Of Soul - Hands Of Faith
