hahaha and I thought I was lazy!

I'd find having strings on would get in the way and make it hard to get the pickups in the slots. Especially as your explorer is hard tail its not exactly gonna be hard to restring it..

Yeah but if i use the same strings i fear they will snap when being put on, and then i will have to buy more strings which will delay clips!

Yes, I change strings at the same time as pickups.

Only time I didn't was for my Warmoth alder strat & it was an even bigger hassle than just restringing.

Why will restringing delay clips? (unless the only set of strings you have are the ones on the guitar?)

Yeah but i ordered a pack before for the Schecter, i just ordered these for the Explorer, and now i have BK strings so i have 3 packs.

And i didnt want to sell it because i broke the string, i saw that Charvel and liked that one better, but then i brought a pickup so now im keeping it.

I always take the strings off before changing pickups.  I might put the same ones back afterwards though.

If it's the first time I've worked on the guitar I usually do other stuff like shielding the cavities, tidying up the nut, cleaning the fingerboard, countersinking screw holes etc.  I'm a bit obsessive about these things...
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

Well i had a fiddle around and i don't think it's going to happen with the strings on, unless i loosen them so much that they are about to drop off then tighten them back up and hoping they don't snap on the way!

If you are really careful you may be able to stay in bed whilst you change the pups-word of warning, don't spill solder on the quilt cover.
