7 string pickups
« on: January 07, 2007, 09:22:29 PM »
Hey, Nowadays i have a 7 string Flying V to compliment the armada of 4 gibson les pauls. but: the pickups SUCK. I need something with more output, more GROWL, more PUNCH, better pinches. in other words: the warpig, twice! but i dont know wether or not they are being made for a 7 string.

I dont want dimarzio anymore, cause the x2n, my other choise, is 100 euro's, and BKP is just 50 euro's more. but i dont know wether or not thats also the deal for something like this.

any idea is welcome!

Warpig is a very good choice. VERY heavy sound!

it is available in a hotter version: with a ceramic magnet. which is basically brutality in a pickup, with a more aggressive sound than the standard. i don't know if the ceramic version is available in 7 string though.

what musical styles do you play?

EDIT: im sure that the Warpig can be made in 7 string form. Tim is that good.

You can have any pickup 7 stringified. It costs the same.

thats good news! I dont want dimarzio anymore, and i never liked seymour duncan, and BKP was a gift from heaven.

the V is, for the record, a korina V; korina body and neck, rosewood fingerboard. I guess it will sound just great, with the warpig in it.

you can even see a bit of my skin on the pickup. I didn't even know I'd done it till the middle of the show and I was wondering why my hand hurt

Ah of course, that old chestnut, the maliciousteve DNA sig pup!

Dunno if it actually makes a difference here, (and I'd guess sultry P90 vocal-like nuances may be off the same menu   8) ), but would it be worth a passing consideration of combined effect of wood+vol pot+ capacitor, as well as "just" how much sonic meat the pup can grind? I throw this in, as I remember "heavier" pups like an Evo sounding extremely different once they were in a body that was not "inert" like basswood,( almost fizzy in a maple-top for example ).
Don't want to hijack here...but...er, ...anyone else also not averse to the odd rocknroll skin shot??
...Steady lads and lasses, steady....
