Personally I think the best thing to do with a Dual Rectumfrier is sell it and buy a different amp but that's just me.

Little gain, little bass, lots of mid and a bit of treble. That's what makes the world go round.

depends what sound you want. you can coax a lot of modern sounds out of a recto

actually, sorry for being too broad. i meant a good lead tone outta channel 2, and a good clean tone.

'Good' is still very vague imo. You could be a bit more spcific, like which artist has the kind of sound youre looking for etc. But anyways,

for lead I suggest turning up the mids and gain. Don't scoop it coz you won't get heard. Also you might wanna add some delay from your effects unit to beef it up.

for clean roll back the treble to avoid sounding 'piercing'. turn up the bass a notch and have medium mid. Add reverb or you could also use a bit of chorus or summat like that to spice it up if you want.

I don't have actual experience of using a Dual rec so theyre just suggestions. I have no idea how different active eq is from passive ones. Listen more to people who have owned them obviously. Also remember that what sounds good at low volumes won't sound good at high volumes.

I just noticed something, in your sig it says wah into zoom into mesa. I hope you have the zoom in the effects loop...

cr@p. the zoom isnt. i guess i gotta change that. i have a question then. how do i run that into my effects, and how do i plug my guitar in?

btw i think active eq means that if u change a certain part of the eq, it becomes a variable that affects how the rest of the eq is changed.

Connect your guitar to the wah and plug that into the mesa's normal input. There should be an effects send jack and an effects return jack on the rear panel of your amp. Connect effects send to input of your zoom and then connect output of the zoom to the effects return.

Also, if you do this, don't use any distortion or overdrive on the zoom, they don't really work in the fx loop. I don't think you would want to anyway, since youre using a real mesa, wish I could afford it lol. The effects should sound a lot nicer once they're in the loop.

Btw I knew active eqs affected each other but didnt know how they did, that's all! Any progress on them yet?

thatnx for clarifying, but in what aspect do the non OD fx sound better?

most of the best mesa sounds are around 12 o'clock with it having an active tone circuit for instance if u turn all your tone controls to 0 on a mesa theres no sound... so your starting point should be 12 o'clock and adjust according from there..

unlike a marshall eq which is passive and works different, i prefer passive eq's because of ease of use..
