Dean Cadillac/Hardtail/Vendetta/anything else?!
« on: January 14, 2007, 10:12:21 PM »
Changed the thread really, looking at Dean Caddy 1980, Dean Hardtail Select Vibrato and Dean Vendetta 4 (perhaps with floyd).

They all look awesome though i can't play them as nobody near me stocks them, only the hardtail, and playing just one of them would bias the decision.

I'm also open to other suggestions around that price range, was looking at lower priced Prestige Ibanez guitars not so long ago.

I don't really know what i am looking for, but if you know my tastes which a lot do then you should be able to find something that suits my needs.

I love Cadillacs. Like Mockinbirds they're kindof that perfect halfway between a traditional guitar and a full on pointy.
I'd get a 1980 or a Black Gold. See what Singing Chicken will offer you, if they were going to do you a Black Gold Z for £399 I imagine they'd do a Caddy for the same, and the 1980 may even be cheaper.

Why do they remind me of Adrian Smith in the Maiden early days????

Nice looking guitars though - very KISS too!

I am more familiar with the great thrash band Testament using them
The 1980 looks exactly like Eric Peterson's from Testament except his has 3 white pickups.

And i just like that Dean build great guitars. Though the only place i can find the 1980 is at Dolphin music.

The 1980 Cadillac is very classy looking, and available with 3 pickups (it always reminds me of Steve Stevens), but the Black Gold is also very sweet. I do know that the Black Gold V,Z and ML are better than the 79 V,Z and ML, so I'd assume that the same is true of the Cadillacs, although I have heard very good things about the 1980 as well.

I don't like the looks of the Black Gold series, too much gold if you ask me and i have also grown to hate the colour!

I'm pretty sure the 1980 is for me, just need to find it somewhere for a better price.

I want the 2 pickup version not the 3 pickup, that looks cr@p!

And the Black Gold has gold volume and tone knobs whereas the 1980 gets it just right with the different ones.
