Well, I got it wired in my Kelly.

It's beasty but has a grounding problem as there is a shite load of noise, any answers?

Did you disconnect the ground wire that connects to the bridge (or the trem spring claw if you have a Floyd), perhaps?

As you say, a grounding problem.

Both the bare AND the black wires (assuming you got 4 conductor) need to be soldered to a ground point (usually the back of the volume pot, which is in turn grounded to the trem claw).

A few questions:
Does the noise change when you touch the strings, bridge or tuning machines?
Does it only happen when the pickup selector is switched to the MM (assuming you only got the bridge)?

not wanted to steal the thread but I have the same problem with my Rebel Yell and Cold Sweat. I know they are wired in correctly, the noise is less when I touch the strings but it never totally goes away. It's real bad when I am plugged into my Keeley compressor even when it's turned off !

check for (drum roll......) dimmer switches....the #1 prob. for me....when on in house or NEIGHBOR'S house, my rig goes APE....took me a month of troubleshooting and quaffing large amounts of brew in order to find the culprit

No dimmers. Its really noisy so I'm getting a tech to loook at it. Plus my Marshall is pooped :(

Are there amp techs around this area?! I didnt know of any but I need to get the jacks replaced on my Hot Rod..

Nothing new to add. It's a wiring/grounding issue.

I was playing my MM loaded Kami last night, and it was dead quiet, and that was through a cranked Roccaforte!

Thats why I'm worried, I'll get my local tech to look at it over tonight as its not the only guitar that I have at the moment.

Although, it couldn't be that I've left the switch in ther, could it?

as people have suggested - plug it in and touch turn the amp up loud and touch various metal parts to see what happens to the noise. That can sometimes help to find specific problem areas

Then if you can describe what control/pickup set up you have and take a nice clear photo of the control cavity

Its an earthing problem but they can be hard to find if you dont know what you are looking for, and sometimes incredibly frustrating when you do

Did you do a pickup replacement (take out old pickup, wire new ones straight in) or did you alter/change any other components??
