I've managed to try both Apaches on a 50th anniversary stat and Emeralds on a Gibson SG standard, both with their distinctive characteristics. On the Apaches I first noticed the remarkable ringing tone at each position where they show a subtle dynamic character- also, I was impressed with their open, clear ringing sound. This set with the RSGuitarworks electronics upgrade kit and a new custom shop music cap, brought out the best on the instrument- a much warmer, rounder, sweeter sound. The Apaches felt a lot more dynamic than the 54's custom shop Fender pickups. With this in mind, the approach to music seems to open up to a more complex and stylish way of playing, as the nuances of the notes seem more alive than ever

Very nice axes :D I noticed a similar thing when I installed the Irish Tours, the subtle aspects of the playing really come out.

I would like to try those Irish tour, I enjoy that Rory Gallagher sound a lot :)

I agree with everything you say about the Apaches. They have a responsive character( which I suppose is a BKP feature) .They ring, chime, sprang and all the othe adjectives that are used. I have turned all my effects down since having them installed preferring instead to let the guitar/amp combination work.It seems that the more space you give these PUPs the better they like it.

I know I make them but as most of you no doubt have noticed I'm primarily a rock player, so maybe not my first choice for my Strat?
Absolutely not...the last single coils on my Relic(nice white beat up early '90s)were Trilogy Suites-no surprise there........then when I was doing the R&D for the Apaches, they were taken out and Apaches went it. Well........they've never come out!! I love the tone and find I can get every classic 'Strat' tone I can recall out of them. They really bring across that gorgeous, fat and punchy '50s tone like nothing else..........they'll rock too,just crank your amp and watch out :D .

For your interest, although it says Alnico III on the box, the magnets are replicas of a set of real '54 magnets.Back then there was no grading of Alnico, just a low ouput generic alloy called 'Alnico'.This is what we use, it's even gaussed to the same output(notice the low string pull and extra sustain!)-the nearest modern equivelant is Alnico III altough it is a slightly different alloy hence why BKP Apaches sound different to Fender Custom '54s which use the modern Alnico III.
