Out of interest, can I email this guy and ask if he's able to get hold of a guitar for me?  Or do I merely have to wait and see what he updates the site with, and hope the guitar I want is in there?

Can't do any harm to email.

Have you checked out his eBay shop too?  He has stuff on there that isn't listed on his main site.
