nah don't worry lazyninja....was just an idea..a bit pricey as you say..ain't played an edwards yet..liked the schecters...place in doncaster imports the american market ones...and they seem to have a lot in soundcontrol last time I went

PRS even cheap end seem a good guitar

How about gordon smiths http://www.fairplay.demon.co.uk/ , are handbuilt well made..great necks...and if you look under accessorys on there site they have a couple of ones on sale, especially a nice gs2(at least £100 less than normal..and will knock of even more if you don't buy there pickups(guessing BKP's are going in)
Autotune My Arse

Good stuff! I've been sold on the guitar for a while, the pickups is the only concern for me.

If you're on this forum, wont you be switching at least one of them anywa?

The Schecter Tempests are a no brainer for the price - I always have to start upgrading bit & pieces on guitars anyway to suit my tastes.  At £229 for the goldtop one you can't go wrong (I'm tempted myself).

If youre looking for the closest match to a les paul but with better fret access, i would say it would have to be a peavey wolfgang.  You can get them with a standard stop tail bridge, the feel and tone is very simliar (as i own both).  Although they dont make them anymore you can pick one up of ebay for what youve got to spend.

They really are great guitars, you wont find a better neck out there.

I'm fairly new to this forum but thought I'd put my two pennies in.
Have you thought about an ESP. They do the Eclipse range which is Les Paul like but with a slimmer body and a much slimmer neck.
They do them with Duncan pickups (rather than the ESP active 81/85) too if you want to replace them with BKL's.
Or they have the Horizon range of double cutaways.
Check them out.
I play a Gibson Les Paul. I tried one of the eclipse guitars and was impressed. A much easier neck to play and a smaller body suits me a little better (I'm not the tallest guy!!)
I may be tempted to get one.

ESP's are rediculously expensive for only semi decent quality.  Honestly, the Eastwood GP outdoes any esp or LTD i've played, way better fretjob, not rediculously heavy, thinner neck, and it just overall sustained and sounded better.

Right dude i know you probably wont listen to me but from a fellow yorkshire man but if you want an absolutly fantastic guitar and i'll guarantee it will be better than anything you will have ever played les pauls pah nothing, esp eclipse yes esp not ltd i have played, nothing compared to these, edwards nice guitars but not what your after....

What am i talking about,  im talking about one of the greatest guitar companies that most people have never heard of, they only use the finest woods, ebony fretboards, and only the best parts schaller, grover, sd etc....

really i promise if you buy one of these you wont be dissapointed

Boogie Street Guitars - they take washburns and fully customise them and make them great plus there limited runs so you have something special not like les pauls or whatever....

check out the nick catanese idol guitar in there ebay shop at the minute, yes i know the price is cheap but these far surpass the quality of gibsons....

Those Eclipses are indeed sexy.

However, when you say "Don't go for Edwards go for ESP"

Are you aware that they're the same company?
My last FM.
ESP Horizon NTII.
ESP Viper Camo.
ENGL Screamer.

mesfigas you clearly didnt read the first post. My criteria was "a guitar that sounds like a Les Paul but with a better high end access" so Les Paul copies by other brands are ruled out, unless its like feline's with a contoured heel.
