Great band! I would suggest the nailbomb or the Abraxas (believe it or not) i had one in a super strat and the bridge tone was very Nuno, bright fat and had that funky rock vibe to it. I have some recordings of it that are similiar in tone, not in playing unfortunatly!

I think there was a thread going back a year or more ago that said a Miracle man would be good for Nuno's tone. I'm interested to hear about the Abraxas  though, the product page describes it as bright as well. I'd love to give one a try.

There goes another of my preconceived ideas, I always thought the Abraxas bridge would be fat and warm rather than bright.  Guess that rules it out for my Strat, which is far too bright already.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

that would be extremely awesome. Seeing as how I have one ordered for my custom legra, and I really dig nuno's playing/tone/songs/hair.

EDIT: \/ bugger.

Nuno's tone changed radically from album to album. I going to recommend something off-the-wall, but I think it'll fit all the permutations of Nuno's tone:

RIFF RAFF. It will cover the early, wah wah'd brittle, over-the-top tone ... it will cover the big-production tone of Pornographiti and III, and it'll handle the Weezer-like tone of Punchline and his new post-Extreme tone.

My experience with the Abraxis is pretty limited, so I can't say for sure whether it'll work or not, but I certainly respect Steve's ears & chops.

LOL @ Nuno's jacket! Was it a bit chilly in there or something?

Damn he's a great guitarist though.

Thank you Sir.
I think most pickups from the BK range cover alot of tones and styles. I know he uses the Bill Lawrence HB in his sig model but has been using SD recently, quite high output pickups.
The strat i had my Abraxas in was quite bright really, im sure the Abraxas in a LP or a SG would sound really fat.

Abraxas... sounds like a good choice.

My guitar is a HSS Mahogany ibanez, so maybe it'd work... i love santana's tone any how.

I was thinking holy diver or VHII, glad i was wrong :)

I've never considered the Riff Raff... i figured it'd be too low output. I might get a set for an Ibanez Artist i could be getting. Im not 100% hot on the mules, sounds like a good alternative!

Think i'll go with the abraxas for the ibanez, now to choose the single coils. oh boy ¬_¬

Thanks a lot guys, very glad this didnt turn into another 'name every pickup in the world' thread :)

I'll be posting a song from my band soonish, and all of my rhythm tracks were cut using the Riff Raff. I play in a traditional metal band. Nothing low output about it!

Look forward to hearing it. As i understand it the Riff Raff is like a more aggressive version of the Mule, and that aint no slouch. Dont be fooled by the low output!

Going a bit off topic I'd love to know how a Riff Raff compares to a VHII, especially in terms of tonal balance and how they handle gain.
I'm looking for something more vintagey and less agressive than my Nailbomb for my next purchase, with really clear definition, not too thick in the mids but not thin either, kind of like Angus meets Eddie played through a Soldano 8)
