The Owning more than one guitar thread got me thinking about past purchases, sales, part-ex deals, non-purchases & associated regrets.  So a simple poll :)

Definitely selling a guitar that I loved.
I've missed out on a few guitars that I would have liked to own but you can get over it by buying other guitars
MM set, warpig set, about to be fitted - custom 7 bridge 'pig, CS7 neck.

I guess selling a guitar that you loved, because you remember that actual guitar, the way it played.  And every time you remember it you wince and think "dammit, why did I do that?"   :x  :x

But there have been a few times I've wanted to buy limited edition guitars, then they suddenly vanish from the shops.  There was an SG Standard Korina very briefly available in the early 90s, and I wish I'd bought it.  Still kick myself every time I think about it.

And another thing - selling a guitar for less than it's worth!  I had a 1964 SG which I stupidly got talked into selling for a pathetic price.  That was the end of dabbling in the vintage market for me.

Definitely selling a guitar that you loved rather than the one you missed buying. What you never had in the first place you will never miss. I sold a really nice bass once that I'd have preferred ti have kept  though financial circumstances forced it-but I got over it in the end.

the only guitar I regret selling is a Ibanez P-bass I had (like the guy from Supergrass uses).  It was a GREAT bass with a gorgeous maple neck & fretboard.  I sold it for £150 to a guy who collects them and he said it was the best one he'd ever played (doh!).

I'll get over selling a guitar I loved. But missing that one guitar will make me wonder for the rest of my life. What if........?

Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all.

I'm guessing the first one, because if you owned it you knew for sure that you loved it.
