heh, believe it or not there a good and bad drone \ doom bands... just because they dont play flashy doesnt mean they havent got any ability...creating a coherent 10minute wall of noise isnt THAT easy ;)

I saw 'Cult Of Luna' on Monday - they fit into that Doom/Drone catagory, pretty tasty stuff and some wierd time signatures ( 5/4 and 6/8 ) - once I step out of 4/4 it's 'wierd' for me, heh.

I just downloaded a few Electric Wizard songs after reading that apparently they're quite good.. not bad actually. Which albums would you recommend?

I see you have Dopethrone in your avatar HTH..

The idea of SunnO))) is that they're drone doom- you try and zone out while listening to them and almost go into a trance that only ends when you realise that the song has finished.

I get that effect with Sleep's Dopesmoker album.  I keep meaning to check out these bands like Isis, Red Sparowes and Cult of Luna.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I totally dig Sunn O))), but I think they work far better live than on record (unless you have a PA-sized stereo and a bunker in which to listen :)). One of their gigs is like being at the bottom of the ocean, except that it's sound instead of water. I can't explain it better than that ....

ok, so, today i thought i would go band hunting..... looking for bands that are well or not well known, that i think are good.
and i stumbled upon Sunn O))).
holy shitee. it's absolutely weird! completely different!!!! but i suppose thats why i love it.
it's full on drone metal..... i just love their bass response!!!!
here's a link, which is part of a huge long song, that spans over 6 videos of this length, all found on Sunn O))) and Boris's website:
http://liveeyetv.org/playmovie_big.php?mov=sunn/sunn3_bb
have fun, but be patient while listening. this is the third video out of 3, and the first where we get some horrific howling vocals
i love it. i bet you will hate it, but most people do.

enjoy!
