2 new Mule/Laney clips
« on: February 21, 2007, 04:13:09 PM »
Just recorded these today because I had nothing better to do. Sounds slightly scooped though which is annoying, must be because I'm running the SM57 straight into my laptops mic input? Used bridge Mule in my Epi LP Custom, amp settings were as follows, with a Keeley Rat in front giving a bit more gain (seems to sound better than running the pre-gain higher):

Anyway, 2 covers, kinda sloppy and I think my guitar was out of tune

Nice Lizzy tone and playing Tom!   :D

Back in Black's a bit heavy for Angus, but then I'm picky about 'DC stuff  ;)

Cheers Twinfan :) I actually thought the tone was perfect for ACDC until I listened back to the original, its much thinner and more raw. I think the '57/my soundcard seems to scoop some mids which doesnt help for rock really.

Can you remember what settings you used on your GH50L for DC? If I lower the gain too much everything feels "sticky", duller and much harder to play for some reason..

I think I used something like:

Footswitchable gain stage off
Gain at 2 o'clock
Bass at 9 o'clock
Mid at 2 o'clock
Treble at 1 o'clock
Presence at 9 o'clock

Try that, and make sure you play hard  ;)
