scratchplate installation HELP please..
« on: March 01, 2007, 04:12:51 PM »
Hi

I'm trying to put a BKP scratchplate in a new Usa standard delta tone strat, but, i'm not familiar with wiring these up..can anyone help please..

Basically i'm about to wire the White wire on the middle tab of the BKP volume to the left tab on the strat input jack (i meant, with input jack removed/unscrewed, and looking down on the two tabs, with the point of the chrome input jack pointing up)

Then i have two Black wires left - on the middle pot (tone). i'm going to put one of them in the Trem cavity, and the last one on the right hand tab on the input jack.

Does that add up guy's please?

Also there is a black wire, an earth i imagine, screwed into the cavity, and going to the vol pot on the original scratchplate,,should i use this wire on the BKP plate too?

Sorry to appear thick, just want to do it right..

Thanks!

Sounds OK - I'm not sure about the left or right tabs, depends which way the jack is facing   .  The white wire should go to whichever tab connects with the long, springy part of the jack if that makes sense.

Then the two black wires go where you said.

Yes, that's the wire to earth/ground the shielding paint lining the control cavities.  It should connect to the back of a pot like the other ground wires.
