Blimey, you guys make me feel really square as I would never get a tattoo. They are just not me. I cannot see the attraction however highly skilled the artist may be. Each to his own etc.

I like tattoo's when they are done well, botched or badly inked ones just look cr@p & make me understand why people don't like them. I've got 2 myself, my sons name in japenese & a celtic-esq sun (which I'm gonna have filled at some pooint with another design. I'm also toying with the idea of having one just below my neckline on my back.

Me too, I'm worried that I'd choose a design then wish I got something else later on in life

For that reason I wont get a tattoo and instead will just have it printed on a t-shirt or painted on a jacket (or even a guitar)
Then I can change my mind without regrets - just change my clothes or play another axe.

yeah, "member of the fall-out boy fan club" you probably want to keep under wraps, lol.

There have been designs that I have liked a lot  and related to things that i was passionate about at the time and some of the design ideas have endured, but for myself i am glad i resisted the urge- even though many of my friends have ink

A few of those designs have been (and remember I am an 80s rock child)

A rose like Paul Stanley of Kiss has
The Queensryche logo
The Feline catseye logo - now 19 years old
The stiletto heel boot logo that I have on one of my guitars

I am sure there are more.............

I agree, sort of.  I am impressed by tattooing as an art form, and sometimes it looks amazing when people have really gone for it and got full "sleeves" etc.  But I don't like it when you see people who have one smudgy little blue tattoo on their forearm or ankle or something.  Or "Love/Hate" on their knuckles, FFS.

I did think about getting tattooed years ago when I first got my hair cut short, because I suddenly felt very "conventional" and I guess I wanted to react against that feeling and do something "different".  But I never got round to it, and now I'm glad I didn't.

And I could never really think of any design that was so important to me that I wanted it permanently inked on my body.  I'd have been doing it for the sake of it, unlike Davey who's obviously thought about this long and hard.

The thing is, your outlook on many things does change as you get older.  Some people see tattoos as reminders of certain points in their life, and are happy with that; I think I'd see it more as an unwelcome "tie" with the past.  I'm just not a "no regrets" kind of person, I suppose.

I'm the opposite, think that tatoos are only nice in moderation, and when somebody gets full sleves or something done, It's way too much.

Wouldn't mind a smallish one on my shoulder or torso, but would never go for anywhere super viewable - Specially since after a year of one you're bound to be bored of it.

I still want a tattoo but I keep spending the money for it on guitar stuff.

I'd like something like this but with less dramatic shading.

808 that headstock tattoo looks cool.

I am after something guitar related and i have a really cool idea, but i aint gonna share that one till its done.

here is my first ever tattoo that i had done last year in september, its a work in progress and will be a full arm peice at some point - but not lillies all the way up the arm, i am still trying to decide what will blend nicely with the lillies.  the original idea was large stars over the top blending into lillies on the bottom but i might go a little more complex than that now!

This is a pic the day after it was done,;

and today:

Just a general question (not insulting) why did you get it done on your chest, like why not the back or arm or something?

And Feline you should get the Feline catseye logo on you, that would be cool.

i wont get a tat on the back out of one simple reason.

i want to see it. it's pointless for me to have one on my back, if i cant look at it. that's just me though

why on the chest and not the arm.. i think the arm is a bit of a cliche, to have a tatoo on (even more so the first one) and i think this one fits better on the chest than on the arm :)

here it is, two days after.. took a pic after i got out of the shower and toweled it off a little.

the detail is starting to show a bit better

i suck at taking pics

I had it made into a silver pendant which I wear now and then- and I have the logo on enough clothes too - keeps me happy
