HOW DARE A COMPANY PREVENT ADVERTISING FOR OTHER COMPANIES ON THEIR OWN FORUM.

You'd undoubtably do the same.

i think it was the fact that the aforementioned pickup was VERY similar to the Warpig in many ways.

Yeah, its basic business.. you dont pay to advertise other peoples products!

But, if you're willing to compromise your tone because of something so stupid then its your loss  :)

I agree that other pickups should be open for discussion in off topic.

But this is a private server and BK can regulate the discussion in whatever way they see fit.

And its a valid point that people here are in the market for pickups, and this forum is essentially an advert for BK. It doesnt make sense to discuss them here (bar, in my opinion, off topic)

Its worth pointing out that though your post was deleted, Tim has approved of soundclips of other pickups going head to head with BKs in the players room:

Scroll down just a little. I'd say thats as far from 'something to hide' as you can get. Looks more like 'bring em on' to me  8)

yeah, i agree with that too. i would be pretty pissed if i saw someone spewing out other manufacturer's names in my forum..... nay, outraged!

i just think that one company may have stolen the idea of the Warpig off BKP. Take 'em down, Tim

nah, i've even forgotten the name of that company now, and i had never heard of them before, so i think BKP won't be affected in the slightest.
BKP's advertising is awesome...... they're in all of the magazines!

plus this forum pwns every other handmade pickup forum.

Censorship is the removal or withholding of information from the public by a controlling group or body. BKP have hardly removed or withheld info on these other guys from anyone ... just off their private forum.

I'm sure anyone buying pickups will properly research a set of manufacturers, and make their decision based on balanced research and not just by reading the forum for a single manufacturer that anyone would expect to be biased and edited by the owner, and habituated by peoploe who love the product :)

I think we're pretty free to discuss most things on this forum - if a competitor's products are advertised here it's fair game to expect that Tim would object.

I know that some threads can end up going on at great length
It is also true that Tim pays for the bandwidth on this forum and when the forum gets big it costs more.

So it could be that paying (literally and metaphorically) for people to promote and advertise other brands just seems too far to accept.

I'm sure that Tim doesn't want all threads to say other brands are rubbish and only BKP are any good - rather a sensible discussion of the finer points of each and what benefits people have found with BKPs

This forum does inform and educate but at the end of the day is part of a business site designed to sell BKPs, and as such maybe some editorial input comes into play from the admin of the site.

I will point out that neither Ol or Tim are overly heavy handed on this forum and cut a huge amount of slack to us guys

And if as the other posters have said the companyt under discussion has stolen designs or marketing ideas - why should Tim give them the oxygen of publicity on a forum that He has to pay for

Jhiggins, we will be very sorry to lose you and your valuable contribution of 7 posts.

Feel free to sit in a packed theatre and shout "fire" when the lights go down - your mission to expose the limits of free speech will no doubt be as appreciated there as it was here.

I think either way "This is Tim's house, it's Tim's rules"

Wish he'd put the kettle on more though.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

An explanation of the deletion(s) would be appreciated, just so we know what to avoid saying in the future  :)
