bought a brand new CE24 today, fell in love with it. It even sounded good through the stores 5150, lol.

I play original groovy thrash metal. I need a tight and organic sound, I use a Laney GH50l into a marshall standard cab and boost it with a SPF ego booster. The amp is quite bassy so I want a pickup that will tighten the lows and make each note ring out.

I love the Nailbomb. Organic and pretty tight. Others are tighter like the Miracle Man though.

Do you play clean a lot? Do you like a wide open sound or more compressed?

for tight and organic i'd go with the AV Warpig. A/Bing the nailbomb and the warpig, the warpig is FAR tighter, although both are very organic pickups, both very mid-focussed. The choice is really between lower mids (warpig) and upper mids (nailbomb).
A crawler might be worth consideration also, although i have never played one.

I like the stock PRS vintage bass pickup for the neck, and i use that for cleans so not too worried about that.

Is the warpig capable of say iron maiden kinda tones as well as the all out thrash fest ?

I expected the choices to be between the painkiller, nailbomb and holy diver.

What do you mean by original groovy thrash metal? Honestly when I read that, I think of Carcass.

For my Singlecut SE Tim recently recommended Holy Divers. Talking Iron Maiden that could be just the cure for you. Went with the VHIIs though for a more classic approach.

I would def. email Tim before a final decision.

Groove metal is a term my friend came up with. As in its not just straight alternate picking, powerchord more alternate picking, the music has a groove to it.

yeah..... that's what i play! groove death/thrash metal. i've only just discovered my best genre of songwriting.... and it is that!

for this genre, i would say Ceramic Warpig, because it is tighter than the A5 Warpig but still is GREAT for metal, especially with a heavy groove to it :twisted:
are you influenced by Pantera? groove kings.

my Holy Diver sounds like a Bill Lawrence with that tight bottom and definition but with huge center mids instead of that scooped thin sound of L500XL
it's like a thicker and a lot better version of Duncan JB
it sounds great for early 90's metal (like Cowboys From Hell and Testament) and it's perfect for Vivian Campbell and Randy Rhoads stuff
lots of cut and very clear
it can do modern metal like Arch Enemy or Trivium pretty well and better than any Duncan or Gibson pickup

Yeah i definately love a little of Pantera, more influenced by soilwork and Exodus, and especially alot of Paul gilberts racer X, love that band. Mastadon play a large influence on my sound, songs that sound simple but arent.
