But can you divebomb with the nonrouted kahlers?

No reason why not. Remember, Kahlers work on a cam, not a pivot, so the attachment isn't that important.
Besides which, the routed ones won't work on a carved top, as you need a large flat surface to mount them.

the schaller bridge is not locking, i think it uses the block of the Les Paul, as opposed to having the block built in like most trems

Depends how far you take it and how well it's set up. I'm somewhat confused as to what Tarzan means by "the block of the Les Paul"

If i were to put one on there it would have to be locking, so it would probably be that Kahler, though i don't see any UK sites that sell them.

The dollar is weak, the pound is strong,a bridge isn't that big. You could have it express couriered by DHL and it would still only cost you £110 before taxes (which you may or may not end up paying)

The Kahler is of course locking (and doesn't need routing either).

Sorry to be pedantic, but all Kahler trem systems do require routing to the top of the guitar, including the stud-mounted ones for Les Pauls.

After finally finding the correct section (that sight is not the easiest to navigate) it would appear you are right. Still less of a job than a Floyd though.

"less of a job" my ass hahahaha.

Theyr amazing trems i'll give you that, but every tech i've met HATES them.  They're a huge bitch to work with and set up, and their arms break off really easily.

the only whammy that i know doesnt require routing is the StetsBar.  It only fits on guitars that have stoptail/tune o matic bridges... unless you want to cut holes for it.  I havent tried it, but i'm not sure if it has the range of a kahler or a floyd...

EDIT: i lied... seems they have new models that can fit Telecasters, and have a model that will need routings...
the stoptail and tele bridges dont need routing though...
my maxon OD 808 really DOES make poop sound good

^ I'd describe routing a uniform, shallow square less of a job than routing all the way though the body with three different shapes at 3 different depths, yes
