Guitar Port with Audition 2.0 Question
« on: March 30, 2007, 01:38:42 PM »
Hi All,

I recently borrowed my brothers guitar port (permenantly..lol)
I also got Adobe Audition 2.0 for recording and stuff.  I'm new to the whole recording software thing so I'm having issues getting it all to work.  I'm hoping someone can help.
Here's the deal.  I like the effects in the guitar port software.  It is easier for me to use than the effects in audition. The only issue I have is when i record in audition, it only records a clean guitar sound with no effects.  Guitar port is all setup to the way I want the guitar to sound.  I go into audition and hit record.  I play and it sounds great as im playing.  once done i playback the recording to find out it was recorded with no effects. totally clean sounding
Im not sure if its a setting in guitar port or audition.  Please help if you can....thanks!!  chris

You tried opening the guitar port software through Audition? Or are you opening them seperately?

I've never used guitar port or Audition, but if it's anything like Guitar Rig and Cubase, then you should be able to load up Guitar Port as an effect within Audition.

What's happening at the moment, is that your guitar is going into the computer clean. Audition picks up this signal and records it.

Guitar port picks up the same signal and modulates it, and then outputs it to the soundcard which in turn goes out of the speakers or whatever output you're using.

What you need is to tell Audition to play the signal through Guitar Port before recording as if it was part of the effects loop.

Hehe, no problem, just got home.

Just to mention, I have no idea how Audition works, or even what it actually is, but I can imagine that it's an audio editting and creating tool?

If what I said is all gibberish then someone correct me, half the time what I think I know is 100% wrong.

Cool

Yeah Adobe Audition is an audio editing, mixing and all that tool.

What you said makes sense so I will try when I get home tonight.
Funny how the answers are usually the obvious...lol......thanks

Would anyone here know what I should look for in audition so guitarport and it are on the same page.  Like what key words i can look for to try and sync them.

Also here is how i have it setup.
I got my internal sound card disabled.  I got the line 6 guitarport connected via a usb cable to my pc and then an RCA cable from the guitar port to my speakers.  Basically my guitarport is my soundcard.
thanks

somewhere under the gp drivers or through the gp software theres a thing called re-amping or signal routing(sorry have an xt, long time since used GP)
in there you can choose to send unprocessed(IE no effects..but still you hear with affects in Gport) to record or processed make sure is set to processed
