I just thought of another instrument I'd like to play. It's the upright bass. I'll have to learn normal bass first.

Maybe you've read I'm fixing up an old Hofner 182 short scale bass. I'll have to see if I have any talent for bass.

Since I've been working on it I do get GAS attacks for a Rickenbacker bass.

Hmmm Ric basses, have a look at this stock list http://www.ricsrus.com/4000.php

yeah, I've got my cultist credentials out for this one. :)

It's no secret that I'm a Rick bass fan: http://www.carlaz.com/images/carl_in_concert_2005.jpg  8)

They're pretty instruments, give you that Lemmy/Geddy/McCartney/Squire/etc. vibe, and are very playable, especially for a transplanted guitarist.  I dunno, something about the neck or something always made Rics fit easily into my hands, and I can find my way around them while my fingers stumble all over other basses. (Well, they stumble on the Rick, too, just not as bad! ;))

I can't help it. I've been struck by the Ric-GAS-bug. I'm drooling over pictures of 360's too.

+1 on the Rics.
I was a bassist in my first couple of bands, always had a thing for a good bass :) One gig at a place that was usually a dance club, they plugged me direct into the clubs PA ... man those bass drivers could move some air!

I had Ric GAS for 25 years before I managed to do something about it. Now to take it to perfection I think I need the neck pickup rewound as it is a little 'muddy' (but the Eggle needs some pickups first)

Though the thought of a 620 or 650 models are real nice <sigh>

I just love the sound of the Ric bass (the WAL family of basses come a close 2nd though)

Actually, I was thinking about one of those Variax Acoustic things that models banjos (just because it would be cheaper than buying a giant pile of instruments that I can't afford).  Cheating, I know -- but it would supply me with the sound of a bunch of toys at once, including banjo and sitar!  8)

My brother has one Carlaz-good fun-as you say, whole bunch of toys to play with. The acoustic guitar simulations are not bad too but I used it in a studio for the mandolin and resonator sounds and it held up fine in a mix.
