Ratty maybe you should blow at it.

You can blow or suck, it's a semitone diference.

Another instrument I would like to learn is the bagpipes. I never tried it so I can't really say if I have any talent for it.

lol. I have a harp that I bought in NYC but I am not that good at it-can't seem to get to grips with it either. Yeah bagpipes-I love em too-especially en masse-very stirring.Must be Scottish blood in me somewhere.

If you're good at multi-tasking, then you should be good at bagpipes, because you don't 'blow' a note with it, you keep the bag full of air, and your arm pushes the air across the reed. Oh, and the other bit is just like a recorder :p

I wish I could play the Pipe Organ, and the Violin :)

Everyone should learn piano, it makes it way easier to understand theory, cos it's physically such a linear instrument. Not to mention it's so damn versatile. I've finished my 8th grade in piano and i'm still loving it. It's also way cheaper to play piano than guitar, no need for gear upgrades, tube replacements, new strings every month, picks, etc.

AND it makes you appreciate jazz and classical music, which is great.

I'd like to be able to play drums (well). I can play a few basic beats and fills, but i'm worse than useless with a double kick  .

I bought a dvd about Polychords and Extensions a few years ago. The guy explained everything using the piano which I'm glad cause I understood it easier than if he would of explained it using a guitar.

I took Music Theory in High School. We had to learn the keys on piano. All I know how to do is play chords and the major scale but that was 14 years ago.

Uilleann Pipes, they have such a haunting tone and in the right hands sound amazing.

+1, but what a crazy contraption! What other instrument requires independent movement of both hands, a palm, elbow and a knee!?

I got a low whistle instead - another soulful Irish instrument, but one that's very easy to get started with. Sounds a bit like a flute, but without all the valves and that tricky blowing-over-a-hole malarky.

If you're interested in the Irish whistle (or if you just fancy a good laugh) surf on over to this utterly bonkers whistle-obsessed web site:

My son was learning to play the lyre a while back (they have an excellent sound) and I did have the thought of an Electric Lyre

I'll have to say some form of wind pipe.

Not really the flute. But something like the panpipes or a japanese stlye of windpipe (dont know the name).

Oh and the guitar. 5 yeras now and I play as well as I type.

"with 2 fingers on each hand and lots of mistakes"
