Lily Allen (the fact that she exists is enough to annoy me)

I think she's cute  .  If you switch off the music and ignore everything she says and does.

Cookie monster vocals

i think there's more to death metal that you havent discovered/cannot see. either that or you heard some anal c*nt, and thought it was death metal, then hated the genre

but those vocals are the only vocals that go with the agression of the  music.

I don't know what any of you are talking about...............I do really. I thought them derivative and I don't condemn them for that but it was not my thing at all but they seemed to have fun whilst they did their thang.

Her out of tune squeeking and banal muzak (nevermind her wonderful abilitys in interpersonal relationships and anger management) are so deeply annoying I don't think I could force myself !

Though then again if she offered some sort of financial incentive then I suppose I could compromise myself

I love the Darkness, including the second album.  Good fun rock, great live show, catchy tunes.  What music is all about to me - having a good time.

LIghten up, kick back and enjoy what they've done  :D

Last time i checked he sung so high in the studio that he couldn't ever replicate it live so he was shite live too.

Saw them live and they where excellent, despite not hitting all the high notes.

Though TBH I don't go to see a live band to hear their albums replicated (not even Floyd).

I like it a bit different, but part/most of the Darkness's appeal is the high singing of Justin and if he can't do that then what's the point?

Personally I liked the Darkness, they may not have had the most original sound around but then neither did SRV. We all draw on our musical influences in some way, some of us more than others.

Supposedly Justin Hawkins had problems singing that high from the off (More fool him). But, had the record label not hung everything on him and dropped the band I think given half the chance and another singer the rest could have made a go of it this early in their career.

All that aside, I hear the rest of the band are trying to carry on without their lable and without Justin, more power to them for trying I say, hopefully without a prancing premadonna at the reigns they'll do better in the future.

What really scares me is that Justin is trying to represent the UK in Eurovision (I'll admit I thought this was an april fool), if he does, and sells out for laughs I fear it'll be the final nail in the Darkness' coffin

I really enjoyed the first album and the presence of ANY riffs / solo driven rock music on the radio.

The thing that just pushed me over the edge of my patience was the second album lyrics.

"Dinner Lady Arms" is in my opinion good enough to have been on Def Leppard's Hysteria - A f'in great ballad - but why go and pi$$ all over Dan Hawkins music by writing lyrics like Dinner Lady Arms?

Justin was short-changing the fans, his fellow band members and I think himself.

THEN...

Instead of working through his "supposed" demons he leaves the band high and dry.

Not content with that, just as the others are attempting to form and launch a new project, Justin jumps right back into the media spotlight with a pathetic stab at Eurovision!

I would have put him in hospital if he had been my brother.

I thought that the cards were stacked against the band when I first read that their manager was Justin's long term partner.

What a sad asshole for having the opportunity we all would crawl over broken glass for and F*cking it up for everyone.

I agree, but the one I really hate is "English Country Garden":

That reminds me...

I've been challenged by this (by non-musicians, of course) - about me HATING Wolfmother.

They are really just a clone of Zep and Black Sabbath minus the originality and talent, plus the fact that they smash their instruments, which is just not good, I mean, I don't like it when good musicicans smash their instruments, but when they suck, It just really pisses me off.

PS - and when the bassist plays keyboard, MY GOD is that atrocious. Then he goes and smashes the thing  :x .

PPS - and the singer sounds like a sheep live.

PPPS - AND they come from MY country...

Whew, glad that's off my chest :)

i have to admit i haven't really tried to get into them, but what i have heard sucks. I hate all this guff about "the new ac/dc/led zep", etc., most of the time it's hype. and ac/dc were/are actually good, which makes them not too similar.

Dave spot on there. Half the time even the bands themselves don't count themselves in the same stratosphere as the bands that the record company seems to be putting them up against, but still the record company does it anyway. I personally like the darkness & wolfmother, but I don't think there anywhere nears as good as their predecessors, but I enjoy them all the same & at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?
