Yeah - I own an Orange PPC412 and it weighs a ton. I helped a band get their Marshall 1960A cabs into a venue the other day and they felt as light as a feather in comparison.

If the 212 is as a good as the 412, it's definitely worth considering.

^ speakers aren't the only thing that affects the sound. I'm wary of those HB's, because it says on some of them not to use them above a certain sound pressure level. which seems strange.

I had a look at those HB cabs, and came to the conclusion I wouldn't touch one with a fifteen foot barge pole, not least because of that weird sound pressure level thing.

Bloodmountain, personally I'd advise against buying something new and then c--king about with it to make it sound decent (aside from fitting a guitar with BKPs, obviously)

I'm leaning toward an Orange (although I'd prefer a black-covered one) or an Engl cab at the moment, mainly because there is nowhere near me where I can even take a look at the Framus gear.

Wonder if they'll have a stand at the LGS?

tell you what i got... for like £149 from Thomman.de you can get a Harley Benton cab WITH V30's, haha - you can get two V30's from Celestion for about £110 or thereabouts... great deal and it sounds ...o.k...

B-52 AT212 combo. Heavy, but get the wheels. It has three channels and three rectifier settings (Solid state, AB, A).  About $700 new.  I had to really break in the cab before it sounded top notch, when I first bought it the treble was really edgy, but after about 30 hours of high volume play the cab smoothed out a lot.

On solid state, its like a Line 6 metal tone (Like Mnemic's first album). but slightly smoother in the mid range.  On AB, its a really raunchy Marshall or maybe a Mesa Silhouette (sp?). ON Ab, its like a raunchy EVH tone. Turn down the gain till its an overdrive while on A and you get some good crunch tones. The crunch tones are never as good as a real VOX, the amp is definitely geared towards extremes. Lots of gain or lots of sparkly cleanliness.  But I can make some impressive crunch tones with the rectifier on class a and a low-output guitar.
