Hi ! I'm a new member here(1°post).I'm waiting for a set of Mules to fit my PRS custom22 w/trem  and i wonder if i should keep the same wiring; i have the 5 way rotary switch. Is there somebody with a PRS with Mules ?Is the single coil (split) sound better<>parallel,etc...Or,do you have a better suggestion ?What about the quality of the split/sc with the mule?Tim suggested the Mule or the VH2 (a bit hotter). What do you think ? :?:

Depends what tones your after as to which pickup is prefereble.  The VHII will be a bit hotter and bite a bit more than the Mule.

I think with a rotary switched PRS you need to have the magnetic polarity of the neck pickup flipped if you're changing it for BKPs.  Might be worth checking with Tim or the rest of the team before you order if you're doing it on-line  :D

I have PRS's with VHII's and Rebel Yells with the 5-way switch.  With Bare Knuckles you will notice that the split sound with be more chimey and Fenderish.  Of course you'll also notice how great the other sounds are too!
So many pickups, so little time

How would you describe the difference BKP<>PRS ?I play mostly my own music but it's a mix of rock, blues, fusion, prog ,jazz etc..I like mostly 60's and 70's music.I like the neck and the versatility of the PRS.I don't know yet if i will get the Mule or the VH2 ...Thanks for the help ! :)

Oh yeah, Tao's has been recommended to me. Website looks very interesting indeed. Do you think he does top notch refret work?  I have a Tokai strat that would need one actually ...

I did'nt know about his website, could you post the link?I will be able to tell you more about the quality of his job in a few days(weeks?).He did a few things for me but it was 10 or 15 years ago...and it was not a refretting job.Do you think you could get the same kind of sound with the Mule (<>Black Dog)?Maybe it's the Bogner sound i like ...

Mules rock! A bit more open sounding than the BDs.

Listen to some of the more recent clips from _tom_, he's posted some great stuff up here - you'll not regret your choice!

Mules have a nice split sound - I tried a set in my Artist - but it's not as full as a single coil or the split sound of a hotter humbucker. I guess a VHII would have a fuller split sound as there's more wire in its coils, especially the screw coil, and Alnico V is more powerful than Alnico IV, the sound will have more bass and highs.

Yes, it has a more organic tonal signature indeed. I couldn't be happier with my Mules, which are in my Strat now. I meant that a hotter humbucker with Alnico V could be punchier when split. :)
