peavey 5150 combo   not the 6505 combo, but the original 5150.

I thought about a 5150 before.

Isn't it more of a metal amp as opposed to blues/classic rock/hard rock?

i think it is, although it is EVH's signature amp...

well, if eddie was even playing the 5150 on the records (which is a big if, i've heard unconfirmed reports he used soldanos...), his tone got a lot more modern around the time the 5150 was released. i wouldn't get a 5150 for the VH1 or 2 album tones...

I think the VC50 looks good. Hopefully one of the VH100 owners will chime in. Its seems pretty versatile from what I have read and will offer lots of good tones.

Manson's just emailed me about the JCM800, £499.

Seems a bit overpriced to me but hey!

Cheers

See if you can find a Marshall TSL 60 in head or combo form, they're awesome little amps and can be bought used for about £150 - £200 at the moment on Ebay. I had one and it'd do everything from sparkling clean to crushing overdrives, has 3 independant channels and best of all is all tube.

I wasn't sure about new marshalls as alot of people say if you like the sound of old marshalls then you wont like the sound of the newer ones.

Aslong as I can get that vintagey marshall sound!

Will take a look!

Is there a laney gh combo?

I think I`ll go for a JCM800, JCM900 (might be a bit fizzy/shrill) or a VC50.

But opinions would still be great!
