The Screamer looks like a great choice for me i think, small 50 watt head, versatile with separate channels and fairly cheap :D

if you play a lot of metal but need versatility on the side, i'd go blackmore to be honest.

if you just need versatility full stop, then it'd be closer between the screamer and blackmore. of course, personal preference and all. i know mdv uses a screamer and he's a metalhead.

^ haha, just to clarify, he means it's around £800, not £800 more than the fireball, lol. EDIT: also, the blackmore has a bit of a marshall vibe in it.

Engl's sound awesome though i can't choose, i think the Screamer will be versatile and a great amp but it sounds like the Blackmore will have more gain, i only say this because i would rather not use a booster pedal and keep my pedalboard to the minimum size.

Though there was a nice Megadeth clip of the Screamer.

I'd say the Screamer was more versatile - but still has plenty of gain.

Saying that the Blackmore clips really $%&# over the Screamer ones so if i were to get one it would be the Blackmore.

^ ^ i dunno which is more versatile to be honest... the screamer has nicer cleans (IMO), and is probably a little fenderier all round... the blackmore is more marshally.

really depends what you want to play, but for me it's blackmore no contest. the BM would do megadeth better, too.

EDIT: you really don't want to be judging on clips. you're in hertfordshire, surely machinehead isn't too far away?

Yeah it is in my town  But they only have the Screamer combo. I would really want to try the Blackmore before i bought anything though because it sounds awesome for what i want to use it for.

Custom Audio amps are very very nice, very very nice is very very expensive. To upgrade to maximum tone you need to spend a lot to gain a lot of quality. I hate it but its true.

I'd try a Vox AC15 the new CC one! or an Orange, I always thought Orange sounded a lot better than Laneys to my ears.

It's still all about how you play too! lol

Heh I'm different in that respect. I found the Orange I tried (Rocker 30) to be too tame. If Joe finds his Laney boring I doubt he'd be happy with an Orange. Just my opinion. I agree on the ENGL recommendations.

Yeah the Orange clips i heard sounded pretty similar to my Laney so i doubt i will be getting one of those.

I can't stand machinehead, they are tw@ts in there anyone still in education or young is not allowed to play the expensive stuff.
