I wouldn't buy it from there anyways. First of all it's a combo and i want a head as it's cheaper and i have a cab already. Also Machinehead doesn't like to discount much so all their stuff can be found cheaper elsewhere.

I think i'll probably stick with my Laney for a bit longer and mess around with some settings to see what i can get.

Screamer is very versatile, will do any style and do it well :)

Sometimes though these big amps NEED to be cranked, maybe you could get an attenuator like a weber mass or hotplate, then you can crank the laney?

Yeah i played around with the settings and there's a lot of versatility in this Laney and some nice tones coming out, i think i just need to experiment a bit with it and as you said crank it up a bit more because that's when most Laney's start to get awesome tones.

How about switching the tubes on your Laney to 6L6GCs to give it a new sound? maliciousteve did it on his VH100R and I think he said it's better for heavier stuff. For about £30 it's worth trying imo.

I certainly did. a set of Harma 6L6's. The lower mids are more present in the sound and the higher mids are dropped a little (more of a mesa type of sound but the voicing remains). The low end is tighter, a bit clearer too and the cleans sound much fuller with more body.

That sounds good and all, but i still see in your pic that you bought an Engl :lol:

Jokes aside i actually do want to do it, how hard is it to do?
In a dream world i would imagine it being take out the old ones put in the new ones and flick to the switch on the back which says 6L6? haha

That is actually what you do Joe :lol: it's really that simple on Laneys. Just make sure you buy a set of matched valves and that you put the bias switch in the correct position before you turn it on.

Well I always get mine from www.watfordvalves.com and I got the Harma 6L6's which work nicely. But you could go for Groove Tubes or something.
