buying squier strat
« on: April 28, 2007, 02:00:58 PM »
ok, my mate from wales is selling his squier stratocaster and i thought i might buy it of him for cheap and mod it with some BKP and khaler (spelling?) double-locking trem ect.ect.

so, my questions for you all are:

is this worth it, or should i just get a better guitar in the first place?

how much shold i offer him (he says he doesn't expect much)?

any advice on how to mod it?

thanks in advance

First up, find out when and where it was made and get the serial number. The check on Fender's website for dating etc. The Korean versions from the late 80's were v.good as were the JV/ SQ Japanese models from around 83- onwards.  Try and avoid the 90's and later models as they often have open bath-tub routing/ cr@ppy tuners etc. They did make some Heavy-Metal squiers tho with locking trems in the 80's.
