All the major 80's brands like Charvel, Kramer, BC Rich Gunslingers, I have seen glam metal bands use Les Pauls.
Black Dogs

Previous BKP's: Riff Raff, Holy Divers, Painkillers, C. Warpig, Nailbomb, Miracle Man.

most glam bands used superstrat types, the ibanez RG550, Kramer, charvel, that kind of thing.  but if you look you'll find them with just about anything!  CC Deville of Poison had Les Pauls, Strats and even Gretchs.  Tigertailz used to use BC Rich, but these days it's Les Pauls and Explorers.

quintessential glam guitar:  bright colour, light enough to throw around, whammy bar.  new guitars at the minute, i'd say an Ibanez or a Maverick F1. the Maverick i have here is bright pink!
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

They used lots of Flying V's, Les Pauls, and Explorers from what I know, all Gibson vintage. You could go for a Japaneze Tokai alternative, there's a thought!

I'd say anything flashy rather than superstrats, to me glam rock is bands like KISS who were more about the OTT stage presence side of thing.

So, extreme guitar shapes - V's, Explorers, Iceman (phwoar), BC Rich (even though I think most of them suck donkey balls apart from the Mockingbird)... anything that's not "conventional" like a Les Paul, SG or Strat.

Just out of interest, what bands in particular?  Are we talking Tuff, Pretty Boy Floyd, D'Molls or hair bands who actually had good songs like Enuff Z'Nuff, Steelheart or Cinderella?

For guitars you're definitely looking at superstrats for hair metal - Jackson, Charvel, BC Rich, Kramer, Ibanez.  Colour-wise, pink is good.  Some sleaze bands like Faster Pussycat were more into traditional guitars like Les Pauls and Strats.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Remember, anything silver/glittery/sparkly/mirrored is definately your friend.

Greatest glam guitar ever, Paul Stanley's cracked mirror-finish Iceman series... or his Washburn custom PS series.

Although them new designs are a total rip off of the Fernandes Ravelle...

And so on...
