Well check this out. An explanation by the man himself of the woman tone. Towards the middle of the video around 1.53. Enjoy 8)

Very Spinal Tap!  It took a lot of power to turn that wah pedal on!

is there any way to wire up a LP without adding extra swtiches or changing pots and still get the out pf phase sound? I would prefer not having to change out pots or add switches...

Ive never used a push pull top so i dont know how they work so i will ask this (noob question!) Do they still work as the tone knob? say i was to take out the neck pup tone knob, replace it with a push pull one will it still act as a normal tone pot but if pulled up make the pup go out of phase?

Hope Ive made that easy to understand... :?

If your pickups have 4-conductor cable, to put them out of phase all you have to do is reverse the wiring of one of the pickups - e.g. with a BKP swap the red and black wires so black is "hot" and red goes to ground.

If you have 2-conductor braided cable, you'd need to dismantle the pickup and flip the magnet to achieve the same effect.

Yes, just think of the push-pull as if it's two separate components - a pot and a DPDT switch.  They're completely independent.

I've had Stormy Mondays and PGs and both are terrfic old fashioned humbuckers. Mules are great as well.

Well i fell in love with mule when i heard them. But to bad i do not have the money to invest in a tube amp. I am still saving. I am only using a peavey bandit which is decent but not phenomenal. Thinking of getting a laney LC15. But do not know if it tak pedals well.

the most incredible thing is that later on i discovered that the speaker was damaged so the tone wasn't as good as it should have been!!

LOL!!!

woman tone = mud
out of phase = horrible

Neither tones i'd ever want to go near, but I understand what musical purpose they serve and the influence they've had through out history im good friends with the lead guitarist of "Green Mac" the Fleetwood Mac tribute band.. So im used to hearing out of phase :P
