i'm still looking forward to it. however "not so good" it might be, it'll still be head and shoulders above pretty much any new metal that has been released recently.

Eeeh... I would dispute that, I've heard some incredibly good new metal recently which has blown United Abominations out of the water.  Although, to be fair, a lot of it resides more in the death/black metal realm than the straightforward metal realm.  Nevertheless- it feels like Megadeth's time has passed, since United Abominations is not a return to form, in my opinion.

well, i am saying about straightforward heavy $%&#ing metal. so the death/black deratives arent really in this group. i do agree, there are bands that make quality music, but not many are left on the forefront. and i also wish, people would stop moaning about friedman (i dont mean you in particular) and megadeth, now being just dave and hired guns. it was always like that. it's mustanes baby. but truth be told, they still made far superior music in the last decade and a half, than metallica. or 90% of the Nu bands that came out in this time.

hate_growth. with that statement, your opinions, views and rights to talk about metal are revoked. they will not be reinstated, until you turn away from your false views and spend some time with QUALITY metal.

Manji you must be on crack if you think that about UA.

It is definatley a return to form, such a great album and i would recommend it to anyone, now i feel even better about seeing them at the Astoria on June 16th :D
IMO, Megadeth haven't done anything worth listening to since Youthanasia so i am very pleased with this new release.

Great album - clearly the man's found religion. (Never Walk Alone...)
Shame about the politics - has he also had a historyectomy?

yeah. from what i've heard so far on UA, it destroys st.Anger and even destroys the two New songs that Metallica play live (especially "the other new song" aka "vulturous", which is an insult to metallica's name.)

i need to buy UA, or rip my friend's copy  :twisted:
:twisted: CERAMIC WARPIG - GREATEST HUMBUCKER ON EARTH! :twisted:

United Aboninations is far too literal for me.

Leave the political music to RATM ;)

Though maybe i need to listen to it more... Gears of War is fantastic.

With respect, it is all personal opinions- I personally much prefer Megadeth's older stuff, and it's really not just because of Friedman.  It just feels like Mustaine's run out of things to say, so he decided to go for the shock factor by attacking the United Nations, without too many strong songs to underpin the idea.  Yes, Gears of War is pretty good, Sleepwalker I think's bloody amazing, and Washington is Next is quite nice as well, but... three good songs are not enough to save the album, in my opinion.  When I listen to it, I just don't find myself getting excited or enjoying it like older Megadeth or Metallica.

Anyway, that is just my opinion and I apologise if you don't like it ^_^

ofcourse, but on the first listen, it felt far too literal on some tracks.

I think its Amerikhastan thats my major gripe, at least the intro. And washington is next! i've just removed them from the track list, and now i like the album. :}
