Wiring question - 4 conductor pickups
« on: May 11, 2007, 12:40:42 PM »
Just to confirm, when wiring the four conductor wired pickups, the ones with the coil tap (green/white - i think) if not used need to be soldered together and taped with electrical tape?

Thanks Ted

Ah mine are 2nd hand and these wires were fitted.

So I don't need to solder them together, just tape up?

It's best to twist the wires together then solder them to ensure you have a solid connection.

Then make sure the tape (or heat-shrink tubing) completely covers the bare ends of the wire so it doesn't short out on anything and give you an unwanted coil-split.

Caps short for "capacitors". Gibson fit cheapo ceramic disc ones to production LPs so I purchased a higher quality set.
