I own a Fender Prosonic and it divides my opinion at times! It's got a really good clean sound (very dark and fat for a Fender), and an almost Mesa Boogie like lead channel. Sometimes I love it, and other times I think it's got almost too much gain, but I do love the cleans on it. It's also really loud for it's size, and has the versatility to operate in pure class A with a valve rectifier, class A/B with a valve rectifier, or class A/B solid state rectifier (for the most clean headroom).

All in all a really good amp, but it has to be what you're looking for - it's not a typical Fender sound.

Personally I think it's a much better amp than the hot rod junior or deluxe. Mine cost about £900 when new, so they should be the next step up! How much is this one going for?

Get it - its a bargain, its a great amp and its one of those amps that will be worth loads in the future as it is highly desirable.

For that price I'd definitely go for it! It's a really well built amp, and has great tone!

When they come up on E-bay (which isn't that often) they usually go for around the £500-£600 mark so definitely go for it!

Hm, not 100% sure what valves I have in there at the moment! I asked Watford Valves what they would recommend and I went with their recommendation. I think it's got Harma 6l6GC's, a Philips 12at7, and Sovtek EH12ax7's. I think the valve rectifier is also a Harma branded model GZ34.

The only problem (if you can call it that) is the lead channel. I love the clean sounds, and the lead channel depends on what mood I'm in. If I want heavy rock or a bit of metal then it's really good, but if I just fancy a bluesy or Fender style overdrive then it's not that great. I tend to use the clean channel now and either add a tubescreamer for overdrive, or switch to the lead channel on a really low setting (gain at no more than 3-4) and add an overdrive pedal to taste.

You also have to remember the eq section is active and doesn't work in the normal passive way that most amps do. It takes some getting used to, but once you find a sound you like it sounds pretty damn good.

I put the valves in myself. I was told it wouldn't need re-biasing, but I'm still not sure about that, lol! I should really get it serviced soon so maybe they can have a look then.

I noticed after changing valves that there was definitely more clean headroom, and more of a bitting sound to the distortion. It was really high gain before, but lacked bite. Once the valves were changed it definitely added an edge to the tone (in a good way)....if that makes sense?
