I honestly cannot believe how much I love these pickups! Here's why:
1) I stupidly sold my G&L Legacy and had regretted it since. I then was in the mood for a Strat when I came across a Mexican 70's reissue.
2) The guitar played great, stayed in tune when I didn't use the whammy bar, but the stock pickups were...lacking to put it mildly. I thought I would just "live" with them because I paid $400.00 USD for the guitar used (although it was in MINT condition when I bought it...better than many new guitars I've seen).
3) I finally tired of these pickups and was constantly making comparisons of the sound of this guitar to my old G&L. So I bit the bullet and bought a set of Apaches with RW/RP from a U.S. dealer because I wanted them fast.
In conclusion I have not stopped playing this guitar since installing them! I seriously think Apaches are making me a Fender guy...maybe I'll change my name to TonyFender. :p
Don't know if these should go in the players section, but here's some clips from my friends camera phone with my friends and I jamming basically for the first time. I'm obviously the guy with the VERY loud Strat with the funky pickguard and Apaches...I'm also kicking my head back at one point because it's hot as hell in the garage with three tube amps fired up at once and I'm trying to get the sweat out of my eyes. :)
One thing I noticed is that these pickups are HOT...although they have great vintage vibe they are really punchy. Oh and for the rest of my gear I'm going through an Analogman silver modded Maxon OD-9, Maxon SD-9, and a Mesa/Boogie F-30. A Boss TU-2 is the first pedal in my chain.
