12 strings and string bending

Maybe it's the strings I've got on (starting at 12) but I find string bending tricky on my 12 string. I find it easier on my bass...
Would I be better off with a set of 10s? Or is it a 12 string thing?

I think it is a 12 string thing-it seemed to me to be because the energy from the bend is spread over two strings. Slight bends were OK but nothing more than that. Thats my theory anyway.

Using 12s on a 12 string is hard work - builds character!

I would try it with a set of 10s or even 9s to see if it gets a different vibe

Bending may still be not so good, but it may open up other possibilities.

I used to try bending on my 12 string - just seems like too much hard work -

 you also have the issue of bending in tune - much harder with two strings under the same finger - especially if they are a different thickness to each other.  Mind you i dont worry too much about that - the beauty of a 12 string comes from the tuning compromises

Thanks folks. If I put a set of 10s on, will I have to make some other adjustments?
Part of the reason I wondered was that in the '7 ages of rock' last week, we saw  Hendrix playing blues on a 12 string...

Damn you Ratty thats another CD I have to buy now.

Even with 10s theyre difficult to bend (what can I say I'm a weakling). remember if you go for 10s the paired G is often an .008 so watch the intonation

The Hendrix on the 12 string was my favourite part of both programmes (he looked like he was actually enjoying himself).
