Epiphone Les Paul and Black Dogs = Killer Combination!

If you like a less hot neck pickup, you could use a VHII or Mule in the neck to go with it.

It's always a matter of taste, but to me it sounds ahhhhhsum. (alder cap Epi that is I think)

hmm I see.. tempted to try it, I dont find my Charvel with RY to be nasal sounding really.

It's a very difficult thing to put your finger on.

Sometimes its guess work combining the right gutar with the right amp, the right pickups and the right player.

For me the rebel yells just sounded a little thin and had a harsher sound than the mules.  They had more cut but tonally they re my least fav after the Miracle Man.,

At the end of the day, two people can hear exactly the same thing and one will think it's to harsh while the other thinks it's to warm.

Otherwise I guess we'd all be playing the same pickups in the same guitars etc etc...

What A scarey place that would be..

Kind of like the top 40

Pickups for an Epiphone Les Paul

Im waiting for a Riff Raff to come through for my epiphone les paul, hoping it should be what im after, an A5 magnet not overwound so thinking great clatiry and dynamics but still with balls!
Tried a Black Dog couple years back but found it too dark sounding for the epi.
Apart from metallica the music mentioned was all done with paf style pickups, including sabbath so i think Mules,Riff Raffs or perhaps VII would be the best bet although im only judging on specs.

I don't really get the whole higher output thing?
