Tubes in a Powerball
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:53:54 PM »
I want to experiment, my 6L6's are rocking, but I want something different. Im a tinker'rer
What effect do you think sticking some 6550's or some KT88's in a Powerball would have? My knowledge of the subtleties between these tubes and 6L6's...

i know about biasing etc, so I should be ok with that aspect.

what sound qualities does each tube have over the others?

You can only use 6L6's in Powerballs. Anything else will ruin the amp.

^ that's what i thought... EDIT: i think it can take 5881's, though, maybe. though they're virtually the same as 6L6, far as I know.
