Dodgy wiring on my Vee
« on: June 12, 2007, 03:16:36 PM »
Some may recall I had a few issues installing my MM pickups in my Vee.

All is good and once I realised what was causing the thing to short out and the problem was solved.

There is one thing that is slightly bugging me though, but really is not a major issue - i am pretty obsessive sometimes....

When I turn the volume pot to 0 (zero), there the signal is not muted, if I strum the guitar there is a real quite lo-fi twangy sound, with LOADS of hummmmmmmm...

What could be causing this and how can it be rectified. Is it a shielding issue?

All pots are 500k. :(

Miracle man neck is ace. I really like it for leads. These pups are basically Zakk Wylde in a tin....so to speak. I love them.

Does the V have a separate volume control for the neck and bridge pickups, like a Les Paul? If so, I experience exactly the same thing on my Epi LP. This doesn't help much I know, but I haven't found a way to cure it. It could well be a shielding issue, as that is about the one thing I haven't tried.
Warpigs.

it's dodgy pots that don't quite read zero ohms when at minimum resistance - get some CTS pots.

I installed CTS pots imported from America. $%&#ers...

Nevermind, I can live with it. I always leave volume on 10 anyway!

Yeah I suspect it may be shielding...i'm just too damn tight to take it to a tech... :P
