Hey guys.

Just thought I'd make a thread about a guitar I've bought, just incase anyone was interested, and apologise for the less than great pictures :)






It's a 1976 Fender Music Master which has been modified with a bridge pickup :)

It currently has a Hot Rails in the bridge and the original pickup in the neck position. It also has a push/pull on the Tone control for coil split of the Hot Rails.

I plan to change the pickups for a pair of Slowhands (as per Tims suggestion) and to use the push/pull control for series/parallel switching when both pickups are used.

Just thought I'd share incase anyone was interested :)

Nice, I always liked that musicmaster/mustang/duosonic shape, and I love the aged white colour too.  Plus you have the advantage over the mustang of not having to deal with that....interesting trem ;).

I used to have one back in 1973, it was the first 'good' guitar I owned.  I traded it in on a 68 strat after about a year.  However I played a lot of gigs with the musicmaster.  Mine was olympic white too.  I'm sure you'll enjoy it.  Just get the hot rails out as soon as you can!!  You could just replace the bridge pickup initially and get a better sound!

Nice guitar!

Never played a Music Master, but I have a guitar I put together using the body of a 70s Bronco, which is basically the same shape.  I bought it for £15.

Whatever you do, don't refinish it!  Removing the finish was an absolute nightmare.  Under the outer coats there's a sort of thick "plastic" undercoat which seems to be impervious to anything short of a nuclear explosion.  I had to sand it all off by hand in the end.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments :)

I have no plans whatsoever of re-finishing it, I love how old and battered it looks (in person atleast, not so good in my pics)

The Hot Rails in it now isn't THAT bad, but it's definitely coming out for something more 'traditional', and BKP made :D

Nice purchase Brow !

I love those cool retro designs  :D  

I see from the bridge and controls it is like a Telecaster meets a Jaguar.

The scale length is 24", which is shorter than the Gibson and Fender scale lengths I normally play, but it's not too hard to get used to it :)

I was playing my Gibson LP in my room a few nights ago, and then switched over to the Music master, and it felt almost felt like a toy in comparison  :lol:

Black pickups on a white pickguard always looks good.
