Haha, they're old issues of Guitarist. The g-sys would leave pretty massive dents in the carpet otherwise, it weighs a fair bit, even with the "brain" removed..

WTF is the "brain"!

The G-system consists of two parts, basically. The controller thingie and then a standard 19" rack unit, i.e. "the brain" :) You can keep the rack unit attached to the controller, and have everything in one place, or then detach the unit and keep it in a rack case separately.

You know Nolly, most people pay for gear... it's kinda illegal just to like, you know.. break into stores and run away with whatever you like. Just saying.

Not complete yet, but getting there :)

A few more bits and bobs to get, and then it'll all go in a live-in head/rack case.

Cheers guys, I've been working my arse off to afford it all, but it's coming together very satisfyingly now :)

I've had the g-sys for a couple of days now, but I realised once I received it that I'd need a lot of cables and whatnot to hook it up to the amp and have it working as I'd like, so I've only really been able to mess around with it today. It's very VERY cool.

Yup, exactly. Normally the processor is mounted underneath the controller. It also has all of the connections for inputs/outputs/bypass loops, meaning that you can have a fully MIDI-switchable setup without the need for a rack should you wish. It's that that I call the brain. I've chosen to rackmount it meaning I can keep all annoying cabling and routing out of the way, while just running a single cable to the pedalboard. Makes everything very neat and tidy out front :) (The "brain" is the silver unit in the middle rack space)

It's a TC Electronics G-System. It's a very cool piece of kit that is basically their flagship effects processor, as well as a MIDI floorboard and bypass loops switcher all in one. It's not cheap, but it's a very neat solution, that takes care of functions that you'd normally need several different units to perform.

Nolly, i'm looking to get  new cab, a straight one. I was thinking bogner (at the moment i have a mesa 4x12), i love v30's! Is the orange really good? More so than the mesa?

Bit easier to get hold of an orange too

Hey mate, yeah the Orange cab is brilliant. It's got a lovely meaty chunky sound to it, that really seems to preserve the best things about V30s and sort out the overbearing honky mids and piercing highs that you sometimes get from V30 cabs. It's also very nice and tight and articulate.
Only problem is that they weigh a ton! Their strange proportions, really, really heavy duty construction, and no casters mean they can be a real b*tch to carry around.

Still, definitely worth checking out, I know of several people swapping to them from Mesa cabs.

Sweet, cheers man!

It's not that i'm unhappy with the mesa cab, i just know that it could be a bit better. I was looking into bogner, but never thought of orange. And now they don't have to be orange in colour, is a bonus!

You can always put castors on though, right?

The guitars.

Cant be bothered photographing them all, but I do have a few of the better ones.

Legra.

Jackson.

My main Dean (Number 2 guitar)

The Gimp (the sort of guitar that only the guy that had it as his first guitar and modded it from 3sc (which it was routed for, too), did his first and only refret on and changed nearly every piece of hardware could love)

Dean 2 (now with battlscared painkillers)

The others are an RG7321 with swinshead venoms (for sale :)), an epi explorer (sold, but its still round till the end of the month), my acoustic and bass, and off in the distance: the Deathocaster; a westfield strat copy, natural with white pickguard and an uber sinner with a zinc-steel base plate

The amps. Powerball and uberkab, TSL602. Cube 30 practice amp not pictured.

Bassists practice amp on top of the marshal.

Yeah, well remembered! I sent it back to get a forearm shelf cut in it: the flat top looked good, but didnt agree with me totally, playing wise (when picking very fast, it lifted my arm to an odd angle). I got it finished transparent black in the process

When I bought mine the guy in the shop said that Orange avoid using casters and put solid wood runners on the bottom to transmit sound into the floor, so when playing on a stage it gives just that little bit more.

I bet the people in the flat below me really appriciate that particular design feature
