Getting a Strat
« on: June 29, 2007, 10:35:44 AM »
Well i am currently addcited to the twang and woody tone of a strat. Been thinking of getting a strat. I am eyeing this beauty here from Fender Japan
http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/fender/2007fender/strat/st5793tx.htm

But the thing is i prefer to get a cheaper strat wif descend alder body or may ash. As mainly if i get the Fender axe i will keep just the body bridge system and tuners. I will upgrade the electronics and then pups will be a bKP of course and i will custom make a neck to be that of a chunky Jeff beck neck profile.

So considering my plan for a strat i think its better to custom-make 1. So instead of USACG and Warmoth. Can you guys recommend me where i can get nice strat ash body and maple neck at a better price

Ash seems to be well though of in strats.. I found my Ash strat with Ebony board very bright and snappy.. I'd be tempted to advise you to get an Alder Strat if possible

A look at www.axesrus.com could give you some fairly cheap stuff.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Be warned, a lot of their stuff is shockingly shite - scratchplates don't match up sometimes, bad cut backplates and so on.

+1

i got some *awful* witch hat knobs from them. on the other hand, they are very efficient, and the rest of my order was top quality. "be warned" about sums it up.

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly
