johnny are you a gigging (or pro!) musician?? (or just someone who loves to have window breaking potential at his finger tips.. like me!!)

great sound!

No not gigging at the moment. I'm trying to get some of my old pals back into the idea but their all a bit busy with babies and toddlers. I am determined to get out there and play with all this new gear though. I've contacted a few bands via music shop adverts but as I'm nearly 40 and these lads are all in their early 20's their understanderbly not interested :!: So any one here interested? I'm in North London, the focus of current world news :!:

Was it recorded using the direct recording output on the amp :?:

No I miked it up with a SM57 but I'm a total novice at this!

I checked them out at the music store, but the Powertone still wasn't in. Heading back there on Tuesday to give them a real test run. Nice stuff. They hadn't tried out the direct recording either.

hehehe, overkill!!
i dont use the ultra gain channel myself. the dirty channel with gain at 3/4 is more than enough for me ;-)
less 'hish' and more balls.

I'll try out direct recording this week! The Powertone II is as hard to find as rocking horse poo! I had to wait ages for mine. Try the multitone it's probably like the 2nd channel on the Powertone and it still has tonnes of gain, especially using Tim's MM

The Powertone coming in is already spoken.  :(  I'm looking forward to checking out that Multitone tomorrow, and hearing a clip of the direct recording output.

Hi Bird, That's a bummer about the Powertone. You may have to go to a guitar show to get a demo on one. There selling like hot cakes! I ran the direct out in to my PC's breakout box and compared the tone to the speaker cab. There's a drop in sound quality. From the cab it sounds stunning. I just wondered if a Shure SM57 can handle it all. Ben TO knows a thing or two in this area! I suspected that it wouldn't match a miked cab. I'll record a clip for you later this week. I'm still suffering from the weekend!

This is a nice clip, veeeery direct.  Little longer would be cool ...

Seems the Kochs cover quite a range of tones, as I saw a blues player recently, getting completely different sounds from one. 120 W cranked! I would love to do that, haven't had this since 95, when I had a 5150 back then ....

What was the guitar again?

Yeah it sounds great at 120w but I won't be able to do that again at home as I'm moving. Not the best way to meet your new neighbours!

I did this clip last summer and it isn't played correctly!

The guitar is a Charvel Model 6 that I had pimped by Feline Guitars last year. I had 2 Trilogy Suites put in the middle and neck too. Plus a stainless steel jumbo re-fret!
