Right getting my old ibanez back.......
« on: July 09, 2007, 06:49:23 PM »
the miracle man whilst great in this guitar really lacked the chunk that i wanted and got when i put it in my mahogany LP

so what pickup would be best for a thrash metal sound but bassier... best way to describe this would be Exodus tone on shroud of urine.

yeah details of guitar are

Body: Basswood
Neck: maple
Fretboard: rosewood
Body shape: slightly over sized V

wanting just a bridge pickup for now

well warpig is a option that i thought of.

what are the advantages/disadvantages of chosing ceramic over alnico on the warpig?

If you want something really OTT then I'd agree with the Warpig, possibly Alnico V in basswood. As an alternative, how about a Nailbomb?

my orginal thoughts before i got the miracle man last year was to get a nailbomb but tim said the amount of wood in a v wood suck up most of the tone and it wouldnt cut as well.

i dont really want something over the top, about similar to the miracle man but with a higher bass response.

Double screw pole Miracle Man will do it or there's always the Painkiller!

how different is the painkiller from the miracle man?? does it sound drastically different??? im thinking i could do with a change of sound... this guitar will be used for D standard tuning as well if that helps

i recently put my MM in th mahogany slsmg i got an although its ALOT  clearer than the older guitar its not as thick as it once was.....i thought maghogany was a very dark sounding bassey wood?

im wild tempted to sell up my MMset an get a ceramic pig.then id have bass an the cutting tone too.i dunno.tis a mistery.

maybe because jacksons are too skinny
i've put a miracle man set in my MIJ hurricane LP custom (mahogany, maple top) and sounded huge
yesterday i moved it to my handcrafted lp standard (1 piece brazilian mahogany, imbuya top) and it sounded almost the same
tight and big
both guitars are 5 cm thick on the edge

maybe you want a painkiller for more midrange and fuller spectrum
no need for a warpig

not enough Painkiller clips. at least i didnŽt hear anyone that could show me what i was looking for.
i m not saying that the pickup isnŽt what i want, i just didnŽt hear a clip that could tell me if what iŽm looking for is on teh pickup.

Tight Bass. crunchy Mids, Airy or Warm Highs.
6 - 6 - 6
output a tad more than the nailbomb.
