:D Has anyone used one of these things yet. Is it as easy to use as the publicity says it is ?

I`m thinking of getting one so i can learn how to record onto P.C having got rid of my Boss BR1180 CD digital recording unit.

What do you think guys ?
God I could do with a Gin & Tonic !

firstly do a check on your comp http://line6.com/toneport/system.html
because does use a bit of system resources...mainly software based.
Soundwise and ease of use yeah they ain't bad..and good thing about them is they do update problems...lots of user patches...have used lots of line6 stuff and ain't bad.....(but didn't always like there distortions)
But is a good way to start getting into pc recording...without spending too much

never heard the tone port myself but I know someone who raves on about it

I myself use guitar rig 2, it's rubbish, no matter what I do everything sounds flat and boring and lifeless, I've managed to improve my tone a bit, but it's still no where near where I want it

Use one alot for fooling around and recording at home. Best of em out there for ease/money IMO.
BTW, NOT great but my painkiller clips were recorded with Toneport alone. Also, the UX2 allows two mic in puts if ya wanna use to mic ya rig later on.

Easy to use, but use Audacity over the sequencing software the comes with it (cut down version of ableton live I think).
If you want to record great tone, you'll need to record your actual rig with a mic, but the gearbox modeller can do a decent tone with some twiddling.

The Toneport is bloody brilliant- I highly recommend it.

In fact, all I'm using to record the band's debut album is a Toneport and a shite load of inventive thinking :D

I've used a UX-1 for all my Internet collaborations to date. For some I've used the Gearbox models for the guitar sounds, usually for "quick & dirty ideas" takes, but one solo recorded like that made it onto a commercial release (I misunderstood and thought it was a "See what we can do for a laugh with this backing track that was rejected in pre-production" thing). For serious stuff I mic my rig and use the Gearbox as a mic-pre. It works quite well and I've got positive comments on the guitar tones I've got that way. I've also DI'd through a Tech21 Trademark 10 into the Toneport with my pedal rig when I thought ambient noise might be a problem.

I use Reaper as my DAW. I even paid my US$20 to get a non-commercial license for it :D

i find adobe audition the easiest to use. if anyone requires it i can send it over to them no problem.

reaper is good but the lack of support for wmas annoys me as i sometimes export my drums as wma as its quicker
