i reckon you should put a more modern styled headstock on.... like the ones on the LTD mh400.

i hate fender headstocks they just look generic

I find that comment interesting being as Fender created the genre of electric guitars. I'm not saying they invented the electric guitar but they pretty much brought the genre of electric guitars into being.

dont get me wrong I'm not having a go at you.... just mearly thinking out loud.

I often read threads for a observing human reaction as well as entertainment. (Ok now I'm rambling)

Doesn't the fact that they invented the genre itself make them Generic?

it dont matter :D

anyway, looks like the body is ready to be worked on again - the epoxy took longer to go fully hard than it should have but now the top should be very stable!!

it looks diseased because it is!!  and if this guitar was having something simpler it probably would be finished by now...  i get fed up with spalt everytime i use it but its usally worth it by the time the guitar is finished

i think i am quite liking the idea of ofset clay dots along the bass side - but thats a bit simple and playing it safe.  I was considering taking the boxing glove idea and doing small ones instead of dots.

for the side dots i am going to do small brass rings.  I may put pearl in the middle of them if i have any small pearl dots - not sure on that one at the moment - but the side dots will be fancy.

i may also go with a different style of logo to suit the headstock shape better - we will see

the side dot thing is real easy to do but looks so classy.  B&Q sell small brass tubing thats just right for 'french eye' dots

i try not too but if i happen to be down that way  8)

anyway couldnt find pearl dots so it will be brass tubing with rosewood centres.

here are the dots just before being stuffed with rosewood dust and soaked in super glue:

notice the little baggy of rosewood dust - that has been saved from this specific neck blank so the colour should be a good match.  i always save a bit incase anything like this needs a little filler!!

here is a blank headstock incase anyone wants to do some photoshop magic to show me a cool and original headstock shape that will suit the design.  I do have some strips of rosewood cut of from the neck so can add more to the bottom edge if needs be

probably a guitar nut or something like that to be honest!!

I did have a funny moment last week when one of the students from the school i work at came around to get a guitar re-wired.  He handed me the case and told me all theparts were in the front pocket so i started getting it all out and there was a little tin   I figured he must have put some screws in it so opened it up for a look and it was obviously full of weed - - he didnt half look sheepish!!!!

i do like the bigsby shape - probably not quite right for this one though - and the fact you can clearly see where the end has been broken off on the merle travis guitar puts me off slightly
