the finish will be a deep translucent red.  The neck section will show through in the middle - still havnt decided if to see the neck on the front of the body yet.  If i go for 2 pickups a traditional explorer scratchplate will cover it nicely..... although i am tempted to keep this as a single pickup guitar with just a volume control, maybe an inbuilt overdrive.

ziracote apparently sounds like brazilian rosewood, but i havnt built with taht to compare - and i dont intend to either.  for me its the perfect middle ground between indian rosewood and ebony and looks pretty damn special too - this is not the nicest peice i have!!!

heer is my latest batch of the stuff:

all but one have been reserved

Where do you bought this ones, can you tell me? really nice ones!

The camera's flash took it to bright  :?  I'm not a good photographer  :D  Yours look better!

here is an upclose shot of the ziracote fretboard, now fretted.  It will probably end up a few shades darker but i really like it because it has a lot more flecking than normal

And the explorer has been routed for the kahler trem and 1 humbucker:

i should have some the strat back to assemble in a week or two!!

i have the super large neck pocket cut out on the explorer:

I know not everyone will like the 3 a side headstock but i feel the curve on the end of the headstock reflects the curve on the end of the body quite nicely

Very tasty work - I like your headstock design but for this guitar I'd have inverted it.

Bet it'll scream with the low string pull of only one pickup and that massive neck joint.  Oh, and the Warpig you have planned won't hurt either

Next project has to be a Dean Vee type of thing - all black with binding round the body, neck and headstock (yum!!!)
