Best advice I've heard for a while.

Don't get any adjustable spanners either, they're cr@p no matter how much they cost.

Engines are really fairly simple.  They've got a lot more complicated "looking" over the past few years, but essentially everything is the same princple as it was 50 years ago.

I'll see if I can find a link to download my screensaver, used it to explain to the missus how an engine works.........I'm a Mechanical Engineer, so a bit of an engine sado  :wink:

Found it.  There's a link to it at the top of this thread.  The file is HUGE and takes a while to download, but it's worth it.
